Since our last post on this HCO website, a lot of good things have happened.
Finishing the Year Strong
We finished the 2026 school year strong with HCO’s third kindergarten graduation of thirty children.HCO's third kindergarten class walks in on graduation day as families look on.
The School Buildings Are Rising
The second stories of both school buildings are almost finished. Installing electricity, painting, and furnishing are the remaining work to complete these facilities. The second story of one of the two school buildings, still under construction.
A Computer Lab Is Coming
Another exciting project underway has to do with the future collaboration and partnership of Ayibotech Foundation with HCO. Renaldo Pierre-Louis, the founder of Ayibotech Foundation, is adding a computer lab at HCO to enable qualified students and young women and men in the community to acquire computer knowledge. A lot of material has already been shipped to HCO campus by Agape Flights.Material for the new computer lab, shipped to the HCO campus by Agape Flights.
The Challenges We Face
However, HCO keeps facing challenges on all levels to function here in Haiti. Since the taking over of many areas by gangs, life has been extremely difficult. For example, many of the things we need to do our work have to come from Port-au-Prince. But no access exists from the south part of the land to Port-au-Prince by car. So to buy batteries, solar panels and inverters from there to our place, we need to hire somebody to travel to Port-au-Prince by the commercial ship to get the stuff for us and load it on the truck. Once the truck is loaded, the truck driver drives it to the dock to wait for his turn to board the ship.
Then, he will communicate with whoever has stuff on the truck to come to the specified place to receive the stuff. Sometimes we must wait for four hours for the arrival of the truck. On top of that, we constantly have to deal with impassable roads and highways. Many times, after a torrential rain, we struggle to decide which road to take to arrive at Sous-Rigole.
But God Is Good
But God is good. He always causes us to triumph. With his unfailing help, provision and protection, we keep doing the work with the people here and for the glory of God.
